Love can be as sweet as honey, or it can sting like a bee.

Bo Smith knows that if you go looking for honey, you get stung, so he has his life just how he wants it. No hassles, no complications, and no heartache. As the handsome high school athletics coach, he would be the pick of the small town he grew up in…if he was into commitment, or dating…or even calling back. But he has sworn off anything resembling a future and his mind isn’t going to change.

Then his eyes lock on the new girl in town…She’s beautiful, intelligent, and full of surprises. Just the kind of complication he has been avoiding.

Sophia Brown is looking for the sweet simple life. She has it all planned out. Getting used to life alone isn’t easy, but she has her garden, her bees, and her dog Triton to tend to. It’s the fresh start she’s been dreaming of, surrounded by nothing but open fields to stare at all day.

Nothing at all…unless you count the high school football team and their distractingly handsome coach, practicing right across the street.

But when sparks fly, Bo must choose between the sting of his past or the sweetness of the future.

He may just find that honey tastes good on everything.

Isn’t this cover stunning? I love it. So much so that I can’t stop staring at it. But don’t worry…the story inside is just as amazing!
Our story starts with Sophie and her dog, Triton (King Triton when he’s been naughty) needing to get to the vet’s office. Triton is quite the dog and he’s happened to eat something that’s giving him an upset stomach. Bo is across the street, coaching his football team and helps Sophie out.
I really enjoyed reading this story. Sophie and Bo are in a small town, and I loved how the story really fit the environment. The reason I say this is because we see the beauty of a small town: people know each other, and they help each other out. Now, this can also mean they’re nosy, and this small town definitely is that too. Sophie and Judy, Bo’s sister and the town vet, immediately bond and a great friendship is born. I actually appreciated this fact a lot because, for me, it made it a lot easier for me to be bought into Bo because his sister was such a sweetheart.
I found myself admiring Sophie a lot in this story. She was resilient, intelligent, and kind. She was so multi-faceted and I felt I could relate to her. Sophie has a variety of interests and desires and she has no problem going for those things.
I would definitely recommend this book. I enjoyed the story, and backstory of Sophie and Bo. I appreciated that we see the beauty of family of all kinds (pets, friends, adoption, etc). Definitely a great read!
