Sage Mayson had Kimberly Cullen once, and the memory of that brief encounter has tortured him since the moment he pushed her away. He should have followed his gut, but he didn’t, and now he’s left watching the woman he wants more than anything from afar.

Kimberly vowed to protect her heart from Sage, but when her sister is murdered and her world starts to fall apart, he’s the one person she finds herself leaning on.

Getting a second chance is something Sage knows is rare. He’s not going to squander the one he’s been given, and he won’t take no for an answer when it comes to making Kim his.

But what Sage doesn’t know is Kim has a secret that could leave them both devastated and heartbroken.

So I already loved Aurora Rose Reynolds but after reading this book, I love her even more. The reason I say that is if you #BelieveInTheBoom, you know the set-up for these stories. But in this story, we get some really subtle twists that add excitement but still stays true to the style that this authors’ readers love.

Sage and Kim meet when Kim gets a flat tire. Sage, although adopted, is still a Mason and he’s going to be a hero. There is no other way around it. Sage and Kim have an instant attraction, but one of my favorite parts of this book is when they’re first seeing each other. Only because they have an easy, natural chemistry. Yes, there is obvious sexual tension as they both find each other attractive. But we also see moments of humor and more of the characters and their personalities.

Another aspect I loved about this book is that we very briefly see Kim and Sage back in another book (if I remember right, I think it was in “Until Jax”). It was only brief, and if you are a new reader to this author, you don’t need to read the other book to understand this one. But the fun of that reference is that as a long-time reader of this author, I was rewarded with that little moment because I remembered the scene immediately.

This author writes some seriously intense sex scenes. Wow. Just insert the words smoldering, sexy, roasting hot, and assume I wrote something great. I can’t even. So freaking sexy. I’m still fanning myself.

Do you believe in the boom? Do you love Aurora Rose Reynolds? Then you’re going to love this book. Are you new to Aurora Rose Reynolds? Then you are missing out because she writes romance like no other.
