Wow. Just wow. If I didn’t already love K. Bromberg, this duet would have pushed me to the dark side. This author deserves a standing ovation for the conclusion of Easton and Scout’s love story.
“The Player” ,which is book one, left readers hanging by a thread and “The Catch” does not disappoint. Scout and Easton are pushed to the brink over and over. One of my favorite aspects of this love story is that Scout and Easton really do go through hell. The different situations they end up in are insanity, but through it all, they have each other.
The synopsis hints at Easton’s secret. I won’t get into it further than this: I did NOT expect it at all. And I can’t say how much I appreciated that the author took it where she did. My mind was leading me in several different direction, based on the synopsis, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. I usually can guess and I love when an author forces me to be wrong (keeps me on my toes!)
One of my favorite parts of this story is the baseball itself. Easton and Scout both understand “the magic”. As someone who loves baseball, I also get “the magic” and I loved the author conveyed the experience that one gets on a baseball field. There is a certain magic that engulfs you when you enter the gates. The smells, the players, the sun, the sounds. It’s just an experience that is unforgettable.
This review will be short, only because I refuse to ruin this story for another reader. But trust me that you need to see what happens to Easton and Scout. The emotion and angst in this book filled my heart as I read and I found myself laughing to nearly sobbing at points. An incredible finale for an incredible couple.
