Grand Slam by Heidi McLaughlin

Win the game. Lose your heart.

Everyone knows who I am and that I could have any female fan I want. That’s supposed to be the “perk” of playing left field for the Boston Renegades. But I don’t want just any woman; I want her.

She should be just another face in the crowd, but I can’t stop thinking about the one night we spent together- and her look of regret the morning after.

Because Saylor Blackwell is the kind of woman who haunts a man. Smart, sexy as hell, and one of the best managers in the business. She’s every ballplayer’s dream woman. And I’d do anything to make things right with her.

I’m done sitting on the bench when it comes to Saylor Blackwell. Time to swing for the fences.

This series has easily been one of my favorites. I am an avid baseball fan and to see my favorite sport transformed into the romance scene, while still maintaining its sports integrity has been so amazing to read.

With that said, I think the author saved the best for last because this story ripped my heart out. And it was so fitting. These books can be read as standalones, if you wanted to. But I will tell you that reading Ethan and Cooper’s stories first (Third Base & Home Run) will make Travis’ story so much sweeter for you.

In the other books, and even in the start of this story, we see Travis Kidd, player on many levels. Travis isn’t afraid to enjoy the “perks” that come with being an athlete. But then there is another side of Travis that readers have never met before. The serious, caring, attentive side. The side that wants more from his life than just random women in and out.

Saylor Blackwell would like to be immune to Travis Kidd. But she isn’t. I really loved Saylor’s character because she has been dealt some serious blows in life, but it never defines her. One of my favorite aspects of Saylor is that her problems are real. As I got to know Saylor, I felt like I could find many other women, or men, who’d been dealt the same hand and had to rise up over it. I appreciated that the author let Saylor shine, and didn’t try to make her into someone you just felt sorry for. I felt immense respect and admiration for her.

If you love this author, or sports romance, you will love this book. Its intense on a variety of levels, and the chemistry between Saylor and Travis was indescribable.

I can’t say how much I loved this book. Heidi McLaughlin knows baseball and romance, and combining the two has truly been a Grand Slam for her readers.

Egomaniac by Vi Keeland

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00072]

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

Until Ashlyn by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Meet Ashlyn & Dillon in Until Ashlyn.

Amazon US:

Amazon UK:

Dillon Keck knew Ashlyn Mayson was drunk when she suggested they get married. He knew he should have taken her back to their hotel room and put her to bed. Instead, he did what he had been craving to do since the moment they met.

Claim her as his.

Waking up married in Vegas isn’t something Ashlyn Mayson ever thought would happen to her. Having Dillon, her boss, a man she thinks is a dick, insist they stay married is absurd, but every time he touches her, she gets lost in him and wonders if maybe they are meant to be together.

But someone isn’t happy for Dillon and Ashlyn and their new found romance, and they’re willing to do anything to keep them apart. Even commit murder.

Every time I read anything by Aurora Rose Reynolds, I think its my favorite book she’s ever written. Then she writes another book and that one becomes my favorite. “Until Ashlyn” is keeping this tradition alive.

I loved this book from page one. If I had to sum this story up with one word, describing why I loved it, I would choose “balance”. This author has an incredible knack for creating the amazing alpha male, but not making him overwhelming. The females in her stories are intelligent and independent, but yet can have the men in their life support and love them. Its a beautiful balance that makes these stories work for me.

Dillon and Ashlyn have been working together for awhile. Ashlyn finds Dillon attractive, but also think he’s a jerk (for a lack of better words). Dillon, on the other hand, is very attracted to Ashlyn, but she has no idea. A trip to a dental conference in Las Vegas, a hotel mix-up, and some cocktails lead Dillon and Ashlyn to wedded bliss via the Las Vegas strip.

Ashlyn and Dillon have smoldering chemistry. The love scenes in this book are so incredibly sexy, and yet they aren’t overdone. This couple got married without ever dating and so some of the story is their dynamic of working together (in a relationship aspect) and it was hilarious. Dillon is composed and maybe a bit rigid. Ashlyn is much more outgoing and feisty. I enjoyed watching them push and pull each other back and forth, out of one comfort zone, and into a new one.

I know in many books from Aurora Rose Reynolds, we see a lot of the family members from past books. I’ve always loved this facet, but this book was really exceptional because we get to see so much of Dillon’s family melding with Ashlyn and her family. It was enjoyable to see these characters come together and to watch new friendships growing. I’m honestly hoping my husband and I can somehow join this fictional family. I just love this cast of characters so much.

There is some mystery in this story. There are a few people that aren’t happy about Dillon and Ashlyn being a couple. Anytime I read a story with even a slight hint of mystery, I get so caught up in trying to figure out who the guilty party is. Because this author has such great balance in her story, I was kept on my toes the entire time, but I also was able to enjoy the whole story. I think some books get you caught up in one aspect and its hard to see what else is even happening. I appreciated there is mystery, but also the love story, the families, etc. are able to be fully enjoyed at the same time.

I can’t recommend this book, and author, enough. I have loved Aurora Rose Reynolds and her work for awhile now. Ashlyn and Dillon were an incredible couple and I am already super impatient to see which couple we get to spend more time with next.
