From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.

At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer—a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.

Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.

Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?

Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.

Not with him sleeping down the hall…

image1 (1)

Let me start by saying we should all have a set of rules around CJ Tully. Mainly keeping our clothes on. Because this man will have you wanting to strip down from the first time you meet him.

When I finished this book the other night, I was ready to drive to the author’s house (which I don’t know where it is), and hug her because I loved this book so freaking much. *Insert fangirl screaming*

So I already love J. Daniels but this story made me love her even more. One of  my absolute favorite facets of this book is how CJ shows Riley how he feels. Yes, he tells her. But he also shows her. I don’t mean just with sexual aspects either. CJ and Riley immediately connect but she is truly trying to make things work with Richard, her boyfriend (whom she thought was an ex when she met CJ). Richard is a super jerk. I mean, ugh…what a loser. Everyone sees this and I think Riley saw it too, on some level. But CJ becomes a friend to Riley and he shows what a man caring for a woman should look like.

Another factor I loved about this story was how we really got see Riley and CJ fall in love. Based on the synopsis, we know they have an immediate connection. But feeling a spark for someone and falling in love with them are two different animals. So as their friendship grows, readers get to see why the initial spark was, and should have, been there.

I truly want to keep writing on and on and on about this story because I enjoyed it so much. My facial expressions as I read probably looked insane because I was elated, sad, horrified, ecstatic and a variety of other emotions as I read.

If you already have enjoyed the Alabama Summer Series, you will love this book! But even if you are new to J.Daniels and this series, you’ll be able to follow along just fine. Yes, you might enjoy this story more if you are familiar with the other couples but you don’t need to read those first. Seriously, take the time for this book. It was easily one of my favorite love stories ever.

Is this love or just a game?

Tori Rivera thinks Jamie McCade is rude, arrogant, and worst of all . . . the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on. His reputation as a player is almost as legendary as his surfing skills. No matter how her body heats up when he’s around, she’s determined not to be another meaningless hookup.

Jamie McCade always gets what he wants. The sickest wave. The hottest women. And Tori, with her long legs and smart mouth, is definitely the hottest one. He knows Tori wants him-hell, most women do-but she won’t admit it. After months of chasing and one unforgettable kiss, it’s time for Jamie to raise the stakes.

Jamie promises that soon Tori won’t just want him in her bed, she’ll be begging for it-and he might be right. Somehow he’s found the spot in her heart that makes her open up like never before. But with all she knows about his past, can she really trust what’s happening between them? Is Jamie playing for keeps or just playing to win?

This book can be read as a stand-alone.
Book 1–Four Letter Word

If you’re like me, you’ve probably been dying to read Tori and Jamie’s story. When I first read “Four Letter Word”, which was Sydney and Brian’s story, I knew that I need more Tori and Jamie. The author, J.Daniels, did not disappoint me.

From the very beginning of this book, I was instantly transported back to Whitecaps (the restaurant where Tori works at). One thing I really marveled at with this story was how it was like no time passed at all. I say this because even though a few months has passed in real time, I felt like I was right back at the restaurant with this group of characters. The same quirks they have, their attitudes, their language…the author did not miss a beat with this story. I was sincerely impressed.

Tori and Jamie have this very intense chemistry. I know that as readers, we hear a lot about explosive chemistry and fireworks and whatnot. But these two truly have that. As I read, I could feel their energy zipping around me as I got further and further into the book.  I found myself laughing, blushing, and getting worked up right with them.

Every book I read by this author, I never think she can top the sex scenes. And yet, she always does. Jamie has one dirty mouth and Tori is beyond sassy right back to him. These two could possibly light a kindle on fire. (Maybe mine was smoking because I was gripping so hard, who knows?)

I truly did love that these two got their own story. In “Four Letter Word”, we see both characters but in this story, you really start to see their backstory. One thing that shocked me was how Jamie has been trying to get with Tori for way longer than I realized. Its hard not to think of Jamie as a player, or expecting the other shoe to drop with him. But then you get to know him better, your viewpoint of him starts to change.

For me, I feel Jamie and Tori have just the right amount of push and pull going on. I think the reason it works so well is because it makes sense for their characters. They both are stubborn and prideful. Both of them can be total stinkers when it comes to playing the game.

I absolutely loved this book. I wish I could think of all the exciting words to express how awesome this book and series is, but I’d totally fail. I cannot recommend it enough. J.Daniels balances out her characters flawlessly and truly transports the reader into the story.

EXCERPT

Tori froze a foot away, blinking at me. She didn’t speak. If she had a reason for coming in here, it looked like that reason just left her. She seemed lost.
“Legs,” I probed, when she kept with the staring and not speaking routine.
“Mm?”
“What are you doin’ in here, babe?”
I had no fucking idea what was going on, but unless Tori wanted to watch some chick grind all over me, she needed to get what she came for and step out.
She wet her lips. I watched her neck work with a swallow.
“You showed me your dick,” she stated.
I felt my mouth twitch. Fuck yeah. Breathing a laugh, I relaxed back onto the bench, arms spread behind me and hands gripping the black leather cushion. I tipped my head to the side. “See that impression is stickin’,” I said. “What’s that got to do with this?”
“You showed me your dick after I flashed you. That was your move.”
“Yeah.” I nodded. What the fuck was she getting at?
Tori smiled. Her sin-colored lips stretching slow. “This is mine,” she said, lifting her shoulders as if this shit she was declaring wasn’t a big deal, which it sure as fuck was.
This is hers…Oh, fuck me.
Fuck. Me.
Tori moved closer. Whatever smirk I was wearing pulled from my mouth. That pressure built again, in my chest and lower. I shifted on the bench.
“Legs,” I warned, my voice vibrating in my throat as I watched her walk toward me. “What’d I say about takin’ this shit places you can handle? Did you think this through?”
I was willing to bet she didn’t. If she had and knew how this could play out, with her bent over and me buried deep, she wouldn’t be back here.
“Shh.” Tori stopped in front of my knees. “If we talk, I won’t go through with this,” she admitted, sounding anxious. “And I doubt you’d be chattin’ up the girl who was supposed to be in here, so quit it. Just sit there. Shut up. And keep your hands to yourself.”
“You know what you’re doin’?” I asked, looking up at her. “’Cause in this room I’m allowed to touch, babe. Rules are out there.” I tipped my chin at the door, keeping her gaze. “Not in here. In here, I’m participatin’. You don’t like that deal, you better quit now and think of another move, ’cause the second you start takin’ shit off, Legs, I’m on you.”
“Then I guess I don’t need to worry,” Tori shot back, speaking with confidence and smiling again. The fuck did that mean? My brow tightened. “Say again?”
“I don’t need to worry ’cause I’m not taking anything off, meaning you won’t be on me. I’m just dancing.”
I stared at her for a beat. Then a laugh rumbled in my chest as I thought about how fucked she was.
“What?” she asked, tilting her head all cute. “This is a really good move.”
“Know it is. Not laughing ’cause of that.”
“Then why are you laughing?” She brought her hands to her hips and studied me, looking on the verge of an attitude. Her eyes narrowed. “If you think I need to take my clothes off to win this bet, then you are mistaken, Jamie McCade. I know how you feel about me in this uniform. This is gonna kill you.”
“Legs, hate to tell you this, but you’re wrong, babe. You gotta worry.”
“And why’s that?”
I dropped my arms and sat forward, elbows resting on my thighs. “You start dancin’ on me and I’m touching you,” I promised, watching her blink. “You start dancin’ anywhere in this room and I’m touching you. You don’t gotta strip, babe. I just threw that out there ’cause that’s where I thought this was headed. Telling me you’re makin’ a move and you’re makin’ it in a strip club, figured you’d be taking shit off, but honest to God, it don’t matter. Like I said before, rules are out there. Not in here. Only way I’m keeping my hands to myself is if I’m fuckin’ dead.”
“These are my rules,” Tori countered, bending down to get closer. “And unless you want me to holler out for my new friend with the gold tooth who looks like he eats narcissistic assholes for breakfast, I suggest you follow them, Jamie.”
I chuckled, knowing who she was talking about. Dude made sure I was clear on a few things before letting me back in here.
Something I wasn’t sharing with Legs. “And what are these rules, babe?” I asked.
She straightened and snapped, “I already told you. Sit there and shut up.” Tori put her hand on my shoulder and shoved, pushing me back until I was pressing against the bench again. Then keeping her grip there, she swung her knee up, braced it on the leather, and lowered herself onto my lap, lifting her other knee and boxing me in with it.
I pulled in breath through my nose and curled my hands into fists on the cushion. “And the touching?” I asked, voice strained as I stared at the shape of her tits.
They grew closer as she leaned forward, her hands shifting to hold on behind me, and my gaze snapped up to meet hers when her face got an inch away.
“Beg for it,” she whispered.
My eyes flickered wider. Hers brightened with impending victory.
No shit. Tori was gonna let me touch, but I had to call it. I had to let her win.
I had to fucking beg.
Jesus.
Why’d she have to be so good at this shit?
I steadied my gaze, telling her as my head tilted back, “Think I’ll just enjoy the ride.”

Four Letter Word by J. Daniels

4letterword

Four Letter Word by J. Daniels

Fate. Hate. Love. Lies.
Which four letter word will change their lives forever?

Sydney Paige was never so mortified to hear the words “wrong number” in her life. She meant to tell off the guy who broke her best friend’s heart, but unleashed her anger on a perfect stranger instead. And now her world is turned upside down by the captivating man who wants to keep her on the line.
Brian Savage is living a life he’s quickly come to hate-until Sydney’s wild rant has him hooked and hungry for more. Soon the sexy woman on the phone becomes the lover in his bed. But Brian has secrets, and the closer he lets Syd get, the harder it is to shield her from the devastating mistakes of his past . . .
Well…I just finished this book. I’m officially hungover. Does anyone have some advil?
Just to start off, I won’t be saying a lot about the story in an in-depth level because I do not want to give spoilers. So I’m not being vague to be a jerk, I just don’t want to ruin this story for anyone else.
This book, and Brian and Sydney’s story, was incredible. I want to find a more elegant and fancy way to say it, but this book was so good.
Sydney and Brian initially meet because she calls his number by accident, and basically rips his head off. Her best friend, Tori, had a man screw her over royally (by being married and having a baby that he never told her about), and Sydney is trying to call him and let him have it. But she misses by one number and gets Brian.
Even though Sydney is yelling at him, with some incredibly awesome choice words, mind you, Brian is actually turned on by Sydney. Thus, their text exchange begins, then phone calls, etc.
One thing that I really liked about this story was the dialogue between all of the characters. Everyone felt like they were real. For example, when the guys are talking to each other, its a very different vibe than when we see the girls out on the town for ladies night. I appreciated this because it made the characters seem more authentic to me and really helped them come to life.
Another aspect that I loved about this story was the supporting characters. We get Tori and Jamie (they get their own story in “Hit The Spot, coming in December 2016), and then Cole, Shay, Stitch,  and Kali. It was fun to see the role that these friends play and I think it was especially important for Sydney. I say this because as the story starts, Sydney is helping Tori as her own marriage has just fallen apart. Sydney knew her marriage wasn’t in great shape, but when we learn more about her ex, Marcus, and some of things he has said and done to her, you start to realize how alone Sydney has been.
My favorite character of this story has to be Brian. I was enamored watching him bring Sydney back to life. Let me clarify: Sydney isn’t just lost and then she finds Brian, and *poof*, her life is better. But he does help her confidence and he actually listens to her. We see this throughout the story. There are things that Sydney talks about from her past, or a dream she has always had, and Brian listens and tries to make every dream of Sydney’s come true. If Brian could make Sydney happy, he would do it. Even in the beginning, when Sydney doesn’t know, Brian is making moves because he’s serious about her.
I won’t give away the ending of this story, but I will say I loved how the story ended. Just from the synopsis, one can assume that Brian’s secrets and Sydney will collide, but when they do, its actually somewhat beautiful because of the way the characters handle it.
I would absolutely recommend this book. I actually read this in paperback (My local Barnes and Noble had it out a few days early) and I could not put it down. I actually forced myself to put it down and come back, because I was trying to drag the story out.
