From New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.

At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer—a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.

Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.

Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?

Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.

Not with him sleeping down the hall…

image1 (1)

Let me start by saying we should all have a set of rules around CJ Tully. Mainly keeping our clothes on. Because this man will have you wanting to strip down from the first time you meet him.

When I finished this book the other night, I was ready to drive to the author’s house (which I don’t know where it is), and hug her because I loved this book so freaking much. *Insert fangirl screaming*

So I already love J. Daniels but this story made me love her even more. One of  my absolute favorite facets of this book is how CJ shows Riley how he feels. Yes, he tells her. But he also shows her. I don’t mean just with sexual aspects either. CJ and Riley immediately connect but she is truly trying to make things work with Richard, her boyfriend (whom she thought was an ex when she met CJ). Richard is a super jerk. I mean, ugh…what a loser. Everyone sees this and I think Riley saw it too, on some level. But CJ becomes a friend to Riley and he shows what a man caring for a woman should look like.

Another factor I loved about this story was how we really got see Riley and CJ fall in love. Based on the synopsis, we know they have an immediate connection. But feeling a spark for someone and falling in love with them are two different animals. So as their friendship grows, readers get to see why the initial spark was, and should have, been there.

I truly want to keep writing on and on and on about this story because I enjoyed it so much. My facial expressions as I read probably looked insane because I was elated, sad, horrified, ecstatic and a variety of other emotions as I read.

If you already have enjoyed the Alabama Summer Series, you will love this book! But even if you are new to J.Daniels and this series, you’ll be able to follow along just fine. Yes, you might enjoy this story more if you are familiar with the other couples but you don’t need to read those first. Seriously, take the time for this book. It was easily one of my favorite love stories ever.

Out of Love by RC Boldt

Foster Kavanaugh, former Navy SEAL, knows what it’s like to be the top dog, the man in charge, the one calling the shots. Now that he’s running his own security consulting firm, not much has changed.

Except the curvy blonde he hired as his office manager.

Noelle Davis has been through the damn ringer. Swearing off men after escaping a toxic relationship, she’s grateful for a fresh start—new job included. Except her job isn’t tranquil and calm. In fact, it’s quite the opposite because her boss is the most infuriating man on the planet.

And, not to mention, sexy as hell.

Foster has limits. Rules. No attachments allowed because he doesn’t do love—and Noelle Davis foiled that plan and took a red pen to his list of rules. With her smart mouth and quick witted banter, he found the woman beginning to creep past his defenses.

When circumstances put Noelle in a perilous position, the first person to come to her rescue is none other than Foster Kavanaugh. She gets to see the man in action—not as her aggravating boss, but the man who will stop at nothing to keep her safe.

The same man who makes her want to reconsider her self-imposed embargo of men.

The man she wants to get to know now that she’s seen another side of him.

The man who makes her want…more.

But is more possible when you’re OUT OF LOVE?

So first, I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it so much that I actually forced myself to read it slowly, so I could really take my time and absorb the story and its characters. Yes, that is how much I liked it.

So Noelle and Foster work together. They have this incredibly sharp banter that goes back and forth nonstop. It’s hilarious and I share the same sense of humor, so I aligned with both characters immediately.

Noelle does find herself in a tough spot due to things in her past and Foster is the first to come to her rescue. (I don’t want to give spoilers, hence the vagueness) Even though these two jab and prod at each other, once they really get to know each other is when the magic happens (and I don’t just mean that sexually).

One aspect I really appreciated in this story is that Foster has some real issues. Noelle also has her issues. At some point, these characters need to step up to the plate if they want their relationship to work. Normally, I don’t care for characters who have lingering discourse, but with Noelle and Foster, it really worked. I think one reason for that is that they never really “officially” become a thing. They just are. So their own issues aren’t really “big deals” until we reach a real peak in the story.

There were a couple aspects of this story that I wish had been more developed. We some mystery regarding Foster’s close friend, Hendy. I don’t know if the author is planning to make this group into a series (which I would be absolutely on board with since I enjoyed this book so much). Another facet was Noelle’s past. When everything is sort of sealed up, it almost felt too neat and tidy.

I have only read a few books from this author but each one, I have enjoyed immensely. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to see their alpha males and strong women go head to head in one amazing office romance.

Love In Lingerie by Alessandra Torre

I hired her to fix my company, to bring Marks Lingerie back to life. I didn’t expect her to become my friend. I didn’t expect to fall in love with her.

The first rule of business is to never touch your employees. I think there is another rule about not falling for your best friend—a rule against imagining the curves of her body, or the way her breathing would change if I pulled down her panties and unzipped my pants.

Now, I can’t wait any longer. I’m tossing out the rules.

Damn the company.
Damn our friendship.
Damn my fears.

I’ve often felt that the mark of a good writer is someone who can make you love something you hate. For example, I don’t enjoy horror but yet I love Stephen King’s work. The same can be said with this latest release from Alessandra Torre. She took many aspects that I normally dismiss and made me LOVE it.

This story actually spans years. You would never realize it though; its so very subtle. Yes, the characters physically tell us the time has passed, but the author just wove this together seamlessly. I normally don’t like books that do this but in this book, it was perfection and it worked. It also made sense. We need that time to pass for our characters.

Kate and Trey are attracted to each other the first day they meet. But Kate initially has a soon-to-be husband. Trey has some more interesting sexual appetites that Kate isn’t aware of. Things just never really fall into place for them; even though everyone can see the chemistry they have.

Another facet I loved was that we see Kate and Trey be successful elsewhere; not just as a couple. As the story goes on, we get to watch their hard work pay off professionally. This just tightens their bond. Trey brings out the more relaxed side of Kate, and Kate brings out a more tender side in Trey.

Kate’s character is really fantastic. She is one confident woman. Now, she may not always feel confident, but when she is at work, Kate knows what she is doing. There is a scene in the book where Kate makes a big change at Marks Lingerie, and Trey confronts her about it. Instead of being meek and scared of her boss, Kate immediately defends her actions and has the reasoning to back it up. It was so refreshing to see that!

I actually finished this book while on a plane and I’m sure the look on my face was priceless. I was so happy at the way this story wrapped up and I can say that I felt true elation for the characters.

I cannot recommend this book enough. I can truly say it has become one of my favorite books of all time. It was so fantastically thought out and I left this story feeling happiness, sadness because it was over, and all around satisfaction over such a great story.

Egomaniac by Vi Keeland

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00072]

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

“Clam Jam”
Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block.
Example: You’re chatting with a guy you’re interested in and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.

That’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.

Fact: He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me.
Fact: He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.
Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren’t gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?
Fact: My gay-dar needs a serious tune-up.

The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem: she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.

So I had to go “undercover”.

Fact: I’m in love with my roommate.
Fact: I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.
Fact: She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.
Fact: I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.

The me that loves her.

The me that would never do her wrong.

Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.

Until then, I’ll continue to Clam Jam.

This book is absolutely hilarious. Like laugh-out-loud, stomach cramps, whooping cough after you’re done laughing, type of laughter. At the 7% mark (based on what my kindle said), I was cackling.

Our story starts off with Maggie, who has caught her future husband in bed with someone else. Then, after she kicks him to the curb, she needs a roommate. Enter Ry.

One of my favorite aspects of this story was that while it was utterly hilarious, as the story goes on, you actually find yourself more and more endeared to the characters. You start feeling bad for Maggie and for Ry because they’re both in this weird space with each other. So I enjoyed that balance that was created between the humor and also the seriousness and romance.

I think it takes a lot of talent to take on a more classic idea (to me, this one has the friends to lovers, but also roommate to lovers thing going on), and flipping it around. So for example, Ry is really the romantic. I loved seeing his viewpoint in the story and seeing how he really felt. Whereas Maggie’s character was more of the one who was feeling like she was lusting after her roommate.

I keep wanting to ramble on and on about this book because I loved it that much. It actually really was a beacon of light for me (I know that sounds incredibly dramatic), but I’ve had some heavy stuff on my plate and this book just gave me such a great laugh. It totally cheered up my spirits.

I am new to this author but I would absolutely recommend her work and this book to other readers. If you are looking for a book with laughs, love, and everything in between, this is the book for you.

Until Ashlyn by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Meet Ashlyn & Dillon in Until Ashlyn.

Dillon Keck knew Ashlyn Mayson was drunk when she suggested they get married. He knew he should have taken her back to their hotel room and put her to bed. Instead, he did what he had been craving to do since the moment they met.

Claim her as his.

Waking up married in Vegas isn’t something Ashlyn Mayson ever thought would happen to her. Having Dillon, her boss, a man she thinks is a dick, insist they stay married is absurd, but every time he touches her, she gets lost in him and wonders if maybe they are meant to be together.

But someone isn’t happy for Dillon and Ashlyn and their new found romance, and they’re willing to do anything to keep them apart. Even commit murder.

Every time I read anything by Aurora Rose Reynolds, I think its my favorite book she’s ever written. Then she writes another book and that one becomes my favorite. “Until Ashlyn” is keeping this tradition alive.

I loved this book from page one. If I had to sum this story up with one word, describing why I loved it, I would choose “balance”. This author has an incredible knack for creating the amazing alpha male, but not making him overwhelming. The females in her stories are intelligent and independent, but yet can have the men in their life support and love them. Its a beautiful balance that makes these stories work for me.

Dillon and Ashlyn have been working together for awhile. Ashlyn finds Dillon attractive, but also think he’s a jerk (for a lack of better words). Dillon, on the other hand, is very attracted to Ashlyn, but she has no idea. A trip to a dental conference in Las Vegas, a hotel mix-up, and some cocktails lead Dillon and Ashlyn to wedded bliss via the Las Vegas strip.

Ashlyn and Dillon have smoldering chemistry. The love scenes in this book are so incredibly sexy, and yet they aren’t overdone. This couple got married without ever dating and so some of the story is their dynamic of working together (in a relationship aspect) and it was hilarious. Dillon is composed and maybe a bit rigid. Ashlyn is much more outgoing and feisty. I enjoyed watching them push and pull each other back and forth, out of one comfort zone, and into a new one.

I know in many books from Aurora Rose Reynolds, we see a lot of the family members from past books. I’ve always loved this facet, but this book was really exceptional because we get to see so much of Dillon’s family melding with Ashlyn and her family. It was enjoyable to see these characters come together and to watch new friendships growing. I’m honestly hoping my husband and I can somehow join this fictional family. I just love this cast of characters so much.

There is some mystery in this story. There are a few people that aren’t happy about Dillon and Ashlyn being a couple. Anytime I read a story with even a slight hint of mystery, I get so caught up in trying to figure out who the guilty party is. Because this author has such great balance in her story, I was kept on my toes the entire time, but I also was able to enjoy the whole story. I think some books get you caught up in one aspect and its hard to see what else is even happening. I appreciated there is mystery, but also the love story, the families, etc. are able to be fully enjoyed at the same time.

I can’t recommend this book, and author, enough. I have loved Aurora Rose Reynolds and her work for awhile now. Ashlyn and Dillon were an incredible couple and I am already super impatient to see which couple we get to spend more time with next.
