The thrilling conclusion of Katy Regnery’s first paranormal romance series!

HAPPILY EVER AFTER…

To some, they’re just words signifying a fairytale ending.

For me, Jack Beauloup, they represent an unyielding desire:

Forever with Darcy Turner, the unexpected love of my life.

A love that has placed her human life in danger.

According to Pack Law, my binding is an abomination that must be severed.

It’s ignited a fiery hatred that I must confront and control.

But what is bound cannot be broken.

I will keep Darcy safe.

Even if it means giving up on my dreams.

Even if it means giving up my life.

Woah…just…wow. What a way to end a book duet. I will say that I honestly have taken a break from Paranormal Romance just because I wasn’t feeling it as of late. Sometimes things get so crazy that I just get lost in noticing all the little details. This book, however, (and the first book) were pure magic to me.

This review won’t be long because I just finished this book and I want to blabber on about it for awhile and then that’d ruin the entire story for you.

I’ve heard this book compared to Bella and Jake, and I would definitely agree with that assessment. It feels like this is how you would have wanted that relationship to be (should you be rooting for Jake).

The conclusion to this story is filled with action. It was non-stop and I really enjoyed that. I also really enjoyed the layout of this story. The reason I mention this is because I never felt like anything was being totally dragged out. For example, there is a scene where Jack and Darcy are discussing something and they just talk about it. They need to talk about it, so they do. There isn’t unnecessary drama over how they didn’t talk about it and how it keeps getting forgotten.

So I’ll say this…at the 85% mark of this book, I literally gasped out loud and covered my mouth in total shock. And I thought there was no more shock that I could have in me at that point. Insane!

I thought Katy Regnery did an amazing job on her first paranormal series. I loved that it was paranormal, without going so over the top that I was confused by different creatures and mythical beings. I also enjoyed the many hints of French Canadian in this story and the different histories that are discussed throughout. It really made the story come to life for me, and I enjoyed seeing the characters have so much depth.

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes her first duo of paranormal romances!

ONCE UPON A TIME…

the most beautiful boy in the world kissed me.

I’ve never been able to forget.

Perhaps it was his jet-black hair,

or the changing copper-color of his eyes,

the intense way he looked at me…

or the fact that he awakened my passion for the first time,

at once otherworldly yet heartbreakingly real.

But after that kiss, I never saw him again.

His name was Jack Beauloup.

Jack, my “Beautiful Wolf.”

Twenty years passed. He has returned. For me.

About the Author:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Regnery started her writing career by enrolling in a short story class in January 2012. One year later, she signed her first contract and Katy’s first novel was published in September 2013.

Twenty-five books later, Katy claims authorship of the multi-titled, New York Times and USA Today Blueberry Lane Series, which follows the English, Winslow, Rousseau, Story, and Ambler families of Philadelphia; the six-book, bestselling ~a modern fairytale~ series; and several other standalone novels and novellas.

Katy’s first modern fairytale romance, The Vixen and the Vet, was nominated for a RITA® in 2015 and won the 2015 Kindle Book Award for romance. Katy’s boxed set, The English Brothers Boxed Set, Books #1–4, hit the USA Today bestseller list in 2015, and her Christmas story, Marrying Mr. English, appeared on the list a week later. In May 2016, Katy’s Blueberry Lane collection, The Winslow Brothers Boxed Set, Books #1-4, became a New York Times E-book bestseller.

In 2016, Katy signed a print-only agreement with Spencerhill Press. As a result, her Blueberry Lane paperback books will now be distributed to brick and mortar bookstores all over the United States.

Katy lives in the relative wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children, two dogs, and one Blue Tonkinese kitten create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories begin at home.

Oh my gosh…you guys. What a way to start off 2017! This is the first of Katy Regnery’s new paranormal duo, and she’s writing under K.P. Kelley. The second book, which is the conclusion, releases January 17th. (Bless her heart a million times over for not making us wait for the conclusion!)

I think someone could have robbed my house while I was reading this book and I never would have noticed. I was enraptured with Darcy, Jack, their history and all the mysteries in Jack’s world. This story is woven together so beautifully. I believe it takes a real talent to make aspects of your story come together and this author does that in spades. Yes, we know there are mysterious aspects, but the love in this book is indescribable.

One of my favorite parts of this book was the vivid imagery. Near the beginning, we see Darcy and Jack at a high school play. I felt like I was right there with Darcy. Then as time passes, Darcy and Jack meet again at a wedding. One part that actually made me chuckle a bit was that Darcy is a bridesmaid in this wedding and has a horrific bridesmaid dress. The descriptions of the material, the colors, and the discomfort of it helped me feel like I was right there.

Some might not consider this a big thing, but it was significant to me. When we meet Darcy, we realize that she isn’t treated the best by her extended family. Not totally horrible, but its that judgement about Darcy being 35 years old and unmarried. At another point, we hear Darcy have an internal monologue about being a size ten. The reason I appreciated this as a reader was that Darcy could be any one of us reading the story. I felt like of all the stories I’ve read, Darcy felt like a real woman to me.

I would recommend this book a million times over. I loved it, and I am dying to read the conclusion to Jack and Darcy’s story.
